Awareness Fundraising Events
Our largest fundraising events of the year are the Komen Orange County Pink Tie Ball and the Race for the Cure. Both offer great opportunities for corporations and individuals to give via an in-kind gift, participation and donation.
The Komen Orange County Pink Tie Ball is held every Spring. The Ball is Komen’s annual gala honoring seven men in the community who are helping advance the Komen mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever. The evening features silent and live auctions full of fabulous experiences, trips and excursions, a wine pull and an exquisite opportunity drawing. The Pink Tie Ball is able to raise vital funds by working with individual donors and corporations to help with sponsorship, in-kind gifts, table and individual ticket sales, and participation in our day-of-event giving opportunities.
Our 9th annual Pink Tie Ball was held on May 30, 2015 at the Orange County Great Park, Palm Court Arts Complex in Irvine—the biggest Pink Tie Ball in history with more than 540 guests, raising more than $550,000 toward breast health programs, services and research. The 2016 Komen Orange County Pink Tie Ball will be held at AV Irvine on Saturday, May 15, 2016. For more information, click here.
The Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure is the largest 5K run/walk event raising funds for vital breast health care, education, awareness and research. More than 15,000 people gather at Fashion Island in Newport Beach on the fourth Sunday of the year to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors and remember those we lost. The Race for the Cure offers two 5K start times and a Kids One-Mile Fun Run & Family Walk, a large expo full of fun activities and giveaways. The Race is also a great opportunity to start a Team with friends and family and participate in a fun, healthy activity. Funds are raised by working with corporate sponsors, individual donors, securing in-kind gifts for fundraising awards, individual and team participation through registration and support from donors giving to individual and team fundraising goals. Funds raised at the Race for the Cure help us continue our work in the community giving quality access to breast health care and research. This year’s Race for the Cure was held on Sunday, September 27th raising $1.5 million to date. The 2016 Komen Orange County Race for the Cure will be on Sunday, September 25th.
