It’s Not Too Late to Add One More Important Resolution

Happy new year! If you’re like many people, you’ve kicked off the new year with a list of resolutions. You may have included drinking more water, taking time out for self-care or being better at making time for friends. Consider one more resolution for your list:

Stand up for those battling breast cancer.

Chances are you know someone with breast cancer or who has fought for their life against the disease. In fact, in Orange County alone, FIVE women are diagnosed with breast cancer each day and one woman dies from the disease.

Think about what it would mean to friends, neighbors, and coworkers—those in need fighting this terrible disease—to know that you’ve got their back. Maybe you are a survivor or someone living with metastatic breast cancer who can boldly stand up for others who are walking a path you’ve walked before.

Here are a few ways in which you can become an advocate this year.

REACH OUT – Do you know someone battling breast cancer? We understand it can be hard to know how to best give your support. By reaching out and letting that person know you are thinking of them you can make a tremendous impact. Lending a listening ear can go a long way. Go a step further and offer to run an errand, make a favorite meal, or babysit to provide a restful afternoon for someone going through treatment.

SHARE IMPORTANT INFO – Simply staying in the know and sharing information about breast health can help others in your community be empowered to take action. Sign up with us today to be updated on current legislation and new advocacy, then advocate on behalf of others!  .

ATTEND OR SPONSOR AN EVENT – Connect and advocate with others at a special event hosted by Komen OC or one of our community partners–including the MORE THAN PINK Walk® in September! Learn about all upcoming events (including PAWS FUR PINK, STAND UP FOR THE CURE, and more) via

MAKE A GIFT – The funds we raise help provide vital resources for those who need it most in Orange County. Your one-time or monthly gift can ensure that breast health programs continue strong! Get started at komenoc.orgyearend.

JOINS US FOR THE MORE THAN PINK™ EXPERIENCE – Schedule a FREE one-hour mission tour with your group to learn about how you can make an impact in the fight against breast cancer! This is an all-new experience currently under development. Be among the first to experience this special tour! Contact Tina to learn more.

HOST A WORKSHOP OR FUNDRAISER – Whether at your company or in your neighborhood, become a breast cancer advocate by hosting a fundraiser or educational workshop. Our trained staff and volunteers are ready to support your goals. Contact us to set a meeting to help you be a success!

VOLUNTEER – Support a neighbor or co-worker living with breast cancer by sharing your talents and skills. Short and long term opportunities are available for individuals and groups. Learn more about volunteering.

There’s a lot in store for Komen OC in 2020, and we’re already looking ahead to our 30th anniversary in 2021. With advocates like you, we know we’ll have the best year yet –empowering patients with personalized information, improving access to high-quality care, offering treatment assistance and patient support, advocating for strong public policy, and funding innovative research.

Thank you for your support!
